Summer 2
Our last term in Nursery!
This half-term the Nursery children have been learning about different creepy crawlies. The children have loved watching the amazing caterpillars turning into the butterflies, enjoyed creating their own creepy crawlies using junk modelling, paint, play dough, clay, shaving foam and lots more!
Wild Fangs
Wild Fangs visited our Nursery. The children loved watching the millipede move, the chinchilla chewing, the royal python slither, the emperor scorpion and the crested gecko. The children were so brave! Thank you Wild Fangs, we really enjoyed having the different animals in Nursery!
Heathrow Gym Trip
The children had a great time at Heathrow Gym. They loved exploring the different areas of the play area and particularly enjoyed the sensory areas in the gym.
Father's Day celebrations
In celebration of Father's Day we invited our dads, grandads and uncles to Nursery. The children enjoyed creating their pasta photograph frames with their family members.
Sports Week
The children had lots of fun on sports day. A big thank you to all the parents for attending and taking part in the mums and dads race!
During sports week, Boundless Dance came to school and carried out dance sessions with our children. They loved it!
Healthy Eating
Our visitor, Mr Baig from the local fruit and veg shop came to the Nursery to show the children the different types of fruit and vegetables. Thank you for your very kind donations Mr Baig!
End of year celebration party
We had lots of fun at our end of year party!
Summer 1
This half-term we looked at different vehicles in Nursery!
This half-term the children have been learning about different transport vehicles. The children had fun creating trains, buses, cars, trucks and aeroplanes using crates and wheels. The children used paint, crayons and junk modelling to make their own vehicles. They enjoyed listening to the story, The Train Ride and used cardboard boxes to make our own red train in Nursery too!
Weekly tooth brushing
The children have really loved brushing their own teeth. Well done Nursery, keep it up!
Eid celebrations
In celebration of Eid our parents were invited to Nursery to help the children make Eid biscuits. A big thank you to our parents for coming into Nursery and helping the children make yummy treats. We hope you had a lovely Eid everyone!
Our new mud kitchen
The children have had an amazing time in our new mud kitchen, making mud cakes, biscuits and lots more!
Yoga
We have started simple yoga sessions in Nursery. The children are learning to move their bodies in different ways.
Dual Language books
BookTrust donated free dual language books to all children in Early Years. A big thank you to BookTrust for donating engaging, colourful books for our children to enjoy with their families and friends at home.
Sharing books
We've been sharing lots of books together in Nursery. Year 5 children have also come to Nursery to share picture books with our children. Our parents are continuing to come to Nursery for our book time sessions. Thank you parents!
School library
The children have enjoyed our weekly book sharing sessions in our school library.
Kings Coronation
Nursery were very busy making and decorating their hats for the Coronation party in our big field. Red, white and blue flags were also created. The children had a lovely time dancing and enjoying yummy treats in celebration of the King's Coronation.
Early Years Disco
Our summer disco was fun! The children dressed up in their special clothes and loved dancing to the music!
Spring 2
It's been a fun half-term in Nursery!
The children have been learning about the topic 'growing' and have loved listening to the story, Jasper's Beanstalk. Beanstalks were created, using a range of different media and broad beans and cress seeds were planted. It was amazing for the children to see how the broad beans and cress grew. The children enjoyed creating Jasper the cat using plasticine, play dough and clay. In the home corner, the children explored the garden centre, pretending to plant their own flowers.
Outdoor learning
The children have been busy doing lots such as creating houses, rockets and aeroplanes using our large construction blocks and developing their physical skills using the trim trial and climbing frame.
Shrove Tuesday
In celebration of Shrove Tuesday, our children made yummy pancakes in Nursery.
Sharing books together
Our parents are coming to Nursery every week to share books with their children. It's been lovely to see the parents and children looking at books together.
World Book Day
For World Book Day the children wore different types of hats that were created at home. We looked at different picture books in our book corner.
Mother's Day
In celebration of Mother's Day we invited our mums, grandmother's and aunties to Nursery. We made colourful, glitter pasta bracelets together.
Red Nose Day
For Red Nose Day the children came to Nursery in their red clothes. We decorated our biscuits using cherries and raisins.
NHS visitor
An oral health promoter from Hounslow community dental service was able to provide a free workshop for our parents about the importance of oral hygiene, tooth brushing and healthy eating. Our visitor also carried out small group activities with our children. After Easter, we will be starting our weekly toothbrushing sessions with the children.
Arts Week
For Arts Week, Nursery created colourful, shiny 'wonderland boxes'. The children used various types of materials to make their boxes. The children found the story telling session fun and loved the dance session. The children also made kaleidoscopes using different media, loved mushroom printing and made different clay models.
Easter Fayre
Our Easter Fayre was enjoyed by all. Our children had their faces painted, played lots of games and ate cake, yummy pizzas and delicious samosas.
Spring 1
We've had so much fun in Nursery this half-term!
During this half-term the children have continued to explore the different areas of the Nursery. The children have started to make friendships with their peers and have enjoyed carrying out exciting activities in the Nursery. We've been looking at Bears and the children have been busy creating their own bears using different media such as play dough, junk modelling and lots more! The children have also enjoyed listening different bear stories such as, Peace At Last, Whatever Next and We Going on a Bear Hunt.
Exploring our Nursery garden
The children have been exploring our Nursery garden in all weathers. The children were very excited to find lots of frozen natural objects such as leaves, twigs, sticks and stones in our builder's tray.
Our school dog
The children invited our school dog, Chrissie to our Nursery. Chrissie loves playing on our school field and the children have enjoyed watching her run and play with her favourite ball.
Our trip to Beavers Library
We visited our local Beavers Library and the children enjoyed looking at the different books. The children were very excited to choose books to take home. The librarian read The Very Hungry Caterpillar story to the children and sang some nursery rhymes.
A big thank you to the parents who helped on the trip.
Sharing stories in different languages
Our parents were invited to Nursery to share simple stories in their own language. The children listened and danced to traditional music and ate yummy food bought in by the parents.
Thank you parents for coming to Nursery and sharing stories, the children loved it!
Chinese New Year
For Chinese New Year we made vegetable noodles in Nursery. The children helped to cut the peppers, courgettes, tomatoes and mushrooms and did a brilliant job!
Bears
The children have been busy looking after our big bear in our role play area. We've had fun making and eating honey and marmalade sandwiches, yummy porridge and bear biscuits. The children went on a bear hunt adventure to look for the missing bear, and found him hiding in the cave. There was also lots of excitement when the children bought teddy bears from home and had a lovely teddy bear's picnic in Nursery.
Autumn 2
The children have now settled into Nursery routines well and are separating from their parents with growing confidence. They are happily coming into the Nursery, with big smiles! A big thank you to our parents for their continued support and understanding throughout the settling in process.
During this half-term the children have been exploring the different areas of the Nursery independently and have started to develop friendships with their peers. The children have been carrying out engaging, fun and interactive activities in the Nursery. In our canopy, the children have loved playing in the water trays, looked at picture books in the reading area and used buckets and spades in our large sandpit. We have been looking at the story, Owl Babies and the children have been keen to look after the baby owls in our role play area. They have also used different media to create their own owls.
Look at us in Nursery!
For STEM week the children looked at different arctic animals. They enjoyed exploring the iced animals and created bears and penguins in the shaving foam. The children looked for the hidden arctic animals in the oats and drew different animals using chalk, pens, crayons and paint.
Hounslow Adult and Community Education were able to provide a free course, Early Years-Playing with Numbers to our parents. Parents who attended the 5-week course found it useful and interesting. Ezra's mum said, 'Thank you, I learnt a lot and will be playing different number games with my daughter'.
In order to develop the children's fine motor skills, the Nursery team have planned lots of mark making activities in both the indoor and outdoor area. The children enjoyed mark making in the ice using natural objects and used the patterned wheels to create large colourful prints. The children also carried out different activities at our fine motor station using their 'funky fingers'.
We have been looking at the Owl Babies story. The children made trees for the owls using different sized sponges, created owls using paper plates and made yummy chocolate nests to eat.
We love Forest School! We have started our Forest School sessions with the children. The children are learning how to help each other get ready and have used our amazing outdoor area to look for natural objects. During our first Forest School session, the children found sticks, twigs and leaves for the baby owls nests. These natural objects were taken to our role-play area by the children.
For Children In Need the children decorated fairy cakes and loved their spotty cakes! We helped to raise lots of money by selling cakes. Thank you parents for your kind donations.
The children looked amazing during our Christmas song performance. They tried really hard with their singing and actions to the Christmas songs. Thank you parents for attending and cheering the children along!
To raise money for Save the Children, the children wore their Christmas jumpers. Thank you parents for donating money to a very special charity.
Autumn 1
The Nursery team have been very busy settling the children into their new environment. A lovely family photograph was taken during the home visit, which has helped the children with the settling in process, as children have been able to see members of their family in the photograph displayed in the Nursery.
During this half-term the children have been introduced to the different areas of learning and staff are continuing to model how to use each area. For example, using visuals to support children wearing an apron before painting a picture and taking shoes off before exploring the sandpit in the Nursery and canopy.
We've been busy in Nursery!
Nursery had lots of fun exploring paint this half-term. The children have enjoyed creating colourful prints using different media such as sponges and transport vehicles.
Dance Umbrella came to Nursery and delivered a free movement session. The children enjoyed dancing to music, moving to different sounds and loved playing with the big parachute.
In celebration of Diwali, we invited parents to the Nursery to help the children make chapati's. The children wore their party clothes, had fun cooking, ate traditional food and danced to Hindi and Punjabi songs. A big thank you to the parents who came to Nursery.
We look forward to organising more events where parents will be invited to Nursery.
